The Blazing Star

I plant mountain mint or clover for the varied bee visitors and blazing star liatris for the butterflies. Each flower bed now show off the purple stalks, including the roadside. Every year, I add to the collection and split the larger clumps. I’ve found a few reliable mail orders but these days you can find the corms at Home Depot. These are native prairie flowers and will happily grow almost anywhere, as long as there’s sun. The unusual flowers become butterfly bouquets all summer.
